Why do I find myself “mad about” Metallics? Maybe it is the fact that I am a child from the 70’s and 80’s. Maybe it is because I looooooove to rock out to some nice Guns and Roses. Maybe it is the fact that the metallic look is so in right now. But one thing is for sure, this Fall and Winter, metallic hues are everywhere, and you can rock them!
What is so great about the metallic hues in makeup, such as those in the Sweet Minerals Heavy Metal Collection? I think it is the “candlelight glow” effect that you get that lights up your skin, and adds a twinkle to the eye. You also don’t need to be afraid of mixing eyeshadows that you normally wouldn’t dream of mixing. You really can’t go wrong with this collection. It is almost a shimmery neutral eye look.
The metallic flair extends beyond the countenance to hair and fashion as well. Intentionally messy, bed-head hair is a great look, and easy to achieve! Try a little teasing or mussing with your fingers. A little hairspray and voila, you are ready to go. And for fashion, think glam grunge as well. Metallic accessories, particularly rose gold, are adding an interesting spin to the classic metallic look. Now, you need a torn black t-shirt, some leather pants, high heels, and you are rocking out and ready for the runway.
And who are our favorite rocker babes? Debbie Harry, of Blondie; Stevie Nicks, of Fleetwood Mack, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, and the solo rocker Tina Turner. So many inspirational ladies to choose from. They all have a mystical, powerful aspect of their looks and personalities. Kind of like the heavy metals. Hard and tough on the outside, but oh so pretty and powerful underneath.
